OVER 200 Bongo Movie artists expect to participate in the Tanzania Film festival this December 17th in Arusha.
This was revealed yesterday by official Kiagho Kilonzo during the Mwanza region’s exercise to collect film works.
Kilonzo said they are currently collecting the list of movies and works of artists that will be able to compete for the awards.
“Currently, we continue collecting film artists’ works in different regions. We also expect more than 200 artists to participate in the award,” he said.
He said the festival aims to recognize the contribution of film stakeholders.
He said the festival will help increase the motivation of film production by producing the best films in the country.
During the festival, there will be a content symposium, and artists will have the opportunity to visit various tourist attractions in Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Manyara regions.
Kilonzo said through last year’s awards; they have managed to get various stakeholders who have become film ambassadors in different parts of the country.
Kilonzo said last year; they managed to collect more than 600 films and only got 30 winners.
“This year, we have planned to ensure that we collect 1000 film works from different regions,” he said.
Tanzania Film Board planning and marketing manager Goodluck Chuwa said their board will continue to increase film markets by going to more neighbouring countries.
He said they are in the plan to increase digital markets where until now, there are some Tanzanian films available on Netflix
